Intein-mediated conjugation:

  • Fast
  1. 10 – 20 minutes at room temperature
  • Easy
  1. Add to cell lysate, no need to purify
  2. No chemistry experience needed
  3. Aqueous buffers
  • Uniform
  1. Directional AND Single Point attachment
  • Traceless conjugation
  1. No residue or trace of SEP reactants in final product

Technology developed in collaboration with NIGMS and The Ohio State University:

Protein-Nanoparticle splicing, with protein bound to one portion of the split intein and nanoparticle bound to the other portion. Reassociation of the two portions causes excision of the intein and splicing of the protein to the nanoparticle.
